Female chefs serve can’t-miss dishes at You Grill Girl! at Franklin Barbecue in Austin

You Grill Girl! takes place April 25 at Franklin Barbecue.

One of the year’s best food events takes place April 25, when the Austin Chapter of Les Dames D’Escoffier hosts its fourth annual fundraiser, You Grill Girl!, at Franklin Barbecue.

The collection of women and non-binary chefs and grillmasters will served smoked and grilled bites at the event that raises money to fund careers of women in the culinary, beverage, and hospitality communities. 

Top Austin female and non-binary chefs will serve stellar dishes

The roster of talent and dishes includes:

  • Epicerie chef-owner Sarah McIntosh serving smoked fish dip
  • Dai Due executive chef Janie Ramirez serving aoudad hot dogs with berebere mayo and pickled onions
  • Franklin Barbecue’s Sarah Petmecky, Amie Brown and Theo Nesland creating Y'allapeño Poppers
  • Oseyou culinary director and pastry chef extraordinaire Laura Sawicki offering up chocolate silken tofu pudding with coffee coconut soil and whipped coconut cream
  • Olamaie chef de cuisine Amanda Turner turning out grilled “Oysters Rockafella”
  • Barbacoa tacos from sisters and La Santa Barbacha owners Daniela and Rosa de Lima Hernández
  • Plus more dishes from a dozen other chefs

You Grill Girl! is one of Austin's top culinary events

“You Grill Girl has grown in just a few short years to be one of Austin’s most anticipated culinary events,” event chair Stacy Franklin said in a release. “It's no secret that if you get a group of talented and creative women together, there is nothing they can't accomplish to support each other in service of a great cause.”

The night will also feature music from DJ Cassandra, a Disco Cowgirl Dance Party, a tiki bar, and a selection of exclusive silent auction packages.

General admission tickets cost $90 and include food and cocktails, with children 12 and under getting in free. VIP tickets are already sold out.
